Dr. John English: 35 Years of Dedication

A heartfelt tribute to Dr. John English’s extraordinary veterinary career.

Honoring a Legacy of Care: Dr. John English

After more than 35 years of service in veterinary medicine, Dr. John English retired in July 2025. His contributions to the profession, our community, and generations of pet families have left an enduring impact that will be felt for years to come.

Dr. English began his career at Dyer County Animal Hospital, where his compassion, calm demeanor, and unwavering dedication to patient care quickly earned the trust of those around him. He later went on to found Animal Care Hospital in Ripley, before opening English Veterinary Care in Atoka—a clinic rooted in his belief that every pet deserves thoughtful, lifelong care.

Throughout his career, Dr. English has been more than a veterinarian. He’s been a mentor, a guide, a steady and reassuring presence in moments of both joy and grief. From welcoming new puppies and kittens into families to providing comfort during end-of-life care, his legacy is one of empathy, excellence, and quiet leadership.

In the weeks leading up to his retirement, clients, colleagues, and friends filled our clinic with kind words, handwritten notes, and heartfelt memories. We were honored to present him with a keepsake book filled with those messages—a small reflection of the enormous gratitude this community feels for him.

Though he’s no longer in the exam room, Dr. English’s legacy lives on in every patient we treat and every family we serve. The foundation he built will continue to guide us, as we uphold the same values of integrity, compassion, and care that he modeled so effortlessly.

Thank you, Dr. English, for 35 incredible years! Your legacy of love and care will live on at English Veterinary Care.
